My new Favourite Gluten-Free hotspot in Rotterdam: Sue Café

I absolutely love the gluten-free community. Honestly, we’re all just trying to live our best lives, and what I find so beautiful is how much we genuinely care for one another. We get the struggle, the endless label-reading, the fear of cross-contamination, and that shared joy of finding a place where we can finally relax and indulge.

That’s how I ended up in Rotterdam.

After visiting Sue, a charming 100% gluten-free café in Amsterdam, the barista looked at me with absolute conviction and said, “You have to try our Rotterdam café.” And, of course, I listened, because when a fellow gluten-free soul insists you must go somewhere, you just go.

And let me tell you, it was so worth the trip.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt effortlessly chic yet cozy, think minimalist elegance with that soft glow of comfort you only find in places that genuinely care about what they serve. I ordered the pancakes (because, obviously), and I can honestly say I still can’t decide which was better: the strawberry pancakes or the speculaas ones. Both were absolute perfection, fluffy, flavourful, and beautifully plated.

The soup was comforting and homely, the kind that wraps you up from the inside out, and the drinks… oh my goodness, 10/10! Naturally, I tried more than one (purely for research purposes, of course). Each drink had its own personality, from silky lattes to refreshing iced blends, and each one delivered pure happiness in a cup.

The staff were wonderful: friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can tell they care about creating an inclusive, safe space for gluten-free foodies to simply enjoy.

So yes, this little detour to Rotterdam turned into a full-blown gluten-free love affair. I give this experience a 10/10, and I’ll absolutely be returning soon.

Because when something this good exists, you don’t just visit once… you make it part of your story.
