There is something undeniably magical about discovering a new gluten-free hotspot, especially one that feels like it was plucked straight from the pages of a European lifestyle magazine and dropped gracefully into my weekend. Recently, I had the absolute pleasure of dining at a newly found gem here in the Netherlands, and darling… it was an experience.
Before we dive into the decadence, let’s make one thing crystal clear for my gluten-free girlies and coeliac sweethearts: this establishment is certified gluten-free and fully vegetarian. While some of their beers do contain gluten, they are clearly labelled, and everything crafted in their kitchen is 100% gluten-free and coeliac-safe. You can breathe easy, sip slowly, and enjoy.
Atmosphere: Warm, Cozy, Effortlessly Chic
Picture this: soft lighting, a warm rustic glow, the gentle hum of conversation, and that unmistakable sense of comfort that only comes from stepping into a place that just gets you. The atmosphere is cozy, almost romantic, and I felt instantly at home. This is the kind of café where you could sit for hours, wrapped up in a good book, sipping something delicious, watching the world drift by outside the window like a slow-motion film scene.
The staff? Absolutely lovely. Welcoming, genuine, and effortlessly charming. Ten out of ten for energy alone.
Let’s Talk About the Food…
Now, my loves, when I say I came ready to “research,” I mean it. To give you a proper review, I had to taste a little bit of everything, and I did so happily.
Here’s what graced my table:
The Bread Board
Olives Starter
Roasted Aubergine
Pumpkin Soup
Roasted Potatoes
Elderflower Soda (my choice)
Gluten-Free Beer (my husband’s)
Everything, and I mean everything, was warm, hearty, and beautifully seasoned. The flavours were comforting yet refined, like a hug from someone impeccably dressed. The roasted aubergine and pumpkin soup were standouts for me… soulful, flavourful, and perfect for a cozy Dutch afternoon. And that elderflower soda? A dream.
The Sweet Finale
Ah, dessert. You know your girl ordered four, strictly for analysis purposes, of course.
While all were enjoyable, I wasn’t completely swept off my feet. But if I had to recommend one, the sticky pear cake would be my pick. Sweet, comforting, and just decadent enough to end the meal with a smile.
Final Thoughts
Reasonable pricing, truly delicious food, warm service, and the kind of atmosphere that invites you to settle in and stay awhile. If you’re gluten-free or simply love a cozy culinary escape, this spot deserves a place on your list.
That’s it for today from the Netherlands, lovelies.
Where should I go next?
Drop your suggestions, I’ll happily taste my way across the country for you.
