Every now and then, I stumble upon a place that feels like it was designed just for me, and Floors in Leiden is exactly that. Tucked away in this charming Dutch city, this fully gluten-free brunch haven is more than just a restaurant; it’s a love letter from a mother to her daughter, created with one mission: to make dining safe and exciting for those of us who live gluten-free.
And let me tell you, she absolutely succeeded.
When I first walked into Floors, it felt like stepping into a dream. The cozy interiors, the aroma of fresh coffee, and the promise that everything on the menu was safe for me to eat made my inner foodie do a little happy dance. From toasties and cakes to croissants and even a crispy chicken sandwich, this place has turned “gluten-free” into something utterly amazing.
Let’s talk about my go-to order, because after many visits (yes, I’m a regular now), I can safely say I’ve found my holy grail combo:
✨ Drink of Choice: Start with their matcha latte made with coconut milk, smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced. If I’m feeling indulgent, their iced caramel latte with whipped cream is my personal treat-yourself moment.
✨ Main Event: The crispy chicken sandwich. This is the star of the show, light, soft gluten-free bread hugging a chicken fillet that actually crunches (music to my ears). The flavours are the perfect harmony of sweet and spicy, with just a touch of Asian inspiration that keeps things interesting.
✨ Breakfast Bliss: If you’re more of a morning person, their breakfast board is a dream, a croissant with cheese and ham, a mini pancake, and a little smoothie to tie it all together. It feels like the chicest way to start the day.
The vibe? Friendly, welcoming, and homely, the kind of place where you can sit for hours catching up with friends or just enjoy a solo brunch moment (main character style, of course).
Overall, I’m giving Floors a solid 9/10. The service is fabulous, the atmosphere warm, and the food… well, the food speaks for itself.
So, where should I go next? Leave me a comment and tell me what other gluten-free hotspots I need to add to my list. Your girl is always ready for the next foodie adventure.
