There are interviews, and then there are conversations that feel like a genuine meeting of minds. My latest chat with the incredible Sean McBride from Burg Studio Radio falls firmly into the second category. It was one of my favourite interviews to date, not just because we were diving into a brand-new era of my music, but because Sean is the kind of host who truly listens, reflects, and invites you to expand on your story.

With my latest single “OBSESSION” officially out in the world, I had a lot to say.

“OBSESSION” – A Soundtrack for Your Main Character Era

When I wrote OBSESSION, I wanted it to feel like walking into a scene you’ve always imagined for yourself, cinematic, confident, romantic, and unapologetically you.

It’s pop, it’s bold, and it's intentionally designed as the soundtrack to your life when you're fully stepping into your spotlight.

We spoke about how this song marks a shift for me sonically. Although my background is rooted in rock, classical, and theatrical vocals, moving toward a pop landscape wasn’t just a strategic release choice, it was a personal one.

I’ve always loved the energy of pop: the dancing, the colour, the empowerment, the freedom. Creating something that people can move to, feel seen by, and romanticise their life with gives me an immense sense of purpose.

The Blog: Living My Main Character Era, Why It Exists

Sean and I also talked about my newest passion project: my blog Living My Main Character Era. Instead of building a traditional artist website, cold, distant, press-kit-only, I wanted to create a space that feels like an open diary, a pink-toned portal into my world.

A blog allows my audience not only to follow my career, but to know me, the real me: the books I read, the fashion I love, the journeys I take, the gluten-free recipes I swear by, my thoughts as an independent artist figuring life out in real time.

I’ve always believed connection comes first. Before the music, before the marketing, before the stage, there is relationship. And a blog is how I invite my listeners to step into that relationship with me, not as spectators, but as friends.

On Storytelling, Relatability & Why Artists Still Matter in an AI World

One of my favourite parts of the interview was when we discussed why relatability matters so deeply in music today. Audiences don’t just want flawless vocals, they want a story, a world to enter, a feeling to carry home.

This is exactly where real artists become irreplaceable. AI can write melodies. It can mimic voices, but what it cannot do is feel. It cannot live through heartbreak, overcome anxiety, stand in front of a mirror and decide to love its reflection, or turn a private moment into shared art.

That’s where we, the creators, still hold something sacred and irreplaceable.

As I said on air: “Music is not just my career, it’s the way I build a world, and then open the door for other people to step inside.”

Pop in Europe vs. Pop in South Africa, A Shared Shift

Another great thread from the interview was comparing the European music scene to the South African one. Even though the landscapes differ, one truth feels universal now: audiences are no longer satisfied with just beautiful music. They want an experience.

They want an artist to transport them, sonically, visually, emotionally. As performers, that reminds us that a live show isn’t just a setlist and a microphone. It’s a universe we invite people into.

What’s Next: The Rest of 2025 & a Glimpse Into 2026

Sean naturally asked what’s next, and yes, I did reveal some secrets.

More music. More visuals. More live shows. More creative experiments that blend pop, storytelling, fashion, and film. And yes, 2026 is already unfolding behind the scenes in a way that feels bigger, braver, and even more main-character coded than ever before.

To Sean McBride and the whole Burg Studio team: thank you for giving me the space to speak, laugh, reflect, and share this new chapter with the world. It meant the world to me.

✨Until next time, keep turning up the volume, keep living in colour, and remember:

You deserve to be seen. You are the main character.
