Summer might be over (cue the soft jazz and cozy sweaters), but that doesn’t mean the adventures have to stop. With the colder months rolling in, I’ve been on the hunt for fabulous indoor activities that keep the inspiration, and the main character energy, alive. The best part? These are perfect for a girls’ day out or a solo date, because yes, you absolutely can take yourself out and have the time of your life.

Here are my top picks from this weekend’s little adventures:

  1. Oceanista Exhibition: National Maritime Museum, Amsterdam 🌊

I stumbled upon this absolute gem and let me tell you… I was obsessed. The Oceanista Exhibition is where art, fashion, and sea-inspired beauty collide. Think couture meets coral reef, dreamy, experimental, and oh-so-inspiring. It’s the kind of place where you can wander for hours, taking in avant-garde pieces that remind you why you fell in love with fashion in the first place. If you’re in Amsterdam and want a dose of creativity and style, add this to your list before the exhibition sails away.

  1. Dress Code Exhibition: Paleis Het Loo, Apeldoorn 👑

Now this one… is a fashion lover’s dream. The Dress Code exhibition is hosted inside a palace (yes, a palace, because why not romanticise your life even more?). If you love history and haute couture, this is your perfect match. Expect to see a stunning lineup of vintage gowns, royal fashion, and even pieces worn by Princess Diana herself. The collection also features red-carpet looks from icons like Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga, talk about pop royalty. Between the opulent setting and the fashion moments, I was in heaven.

  1. The Railway Museum: Utrecht 🚂

Alright, this one’s not about fashion, but it’s a must-visit for anyone who loves a bit of history and charm. The Railway Museum in Utrecht is full of real-life trains from decades past (some even from way back), offering a fascinating peek into how people traveled in the 1960s and 1980s. There are interactive exhibitions, model trains, and even a vintage Photo Booth, which of course, I couldn’t resist. It’s the perfect mix of nostalgia and discovery, and honestly, such a fun way to spend an afternoon.

So there you have it, my top three indoor adventures for a cozy, fabulous day out in the Netherlands. Whether you’re out with your bestie or taking yourself on a solo date, these spots promise a little bit of magic, a lot of inspiration, and memories that will keep you warm all season long.

💬 Tell me in the comments, which place should I explore next? I’m always on the lookout for new gems to add to my main character map.
